Tours from Grand Canyon Village

Grand Canyon Village at night

Perched atop the South Rim of Grand Canyon is the tiny town of Grand Canyon Village.  The Village was established in the early 1900's and preceded the creation of the national park by 20 years.  Today, Grand Canyon Village is the center of commerce and activity at the South Rim.  There are six hotels, three restaurants, two cafeterias and many, many gift shops.

What is the best time of year to visit Grand Canyon?

The South Rim of Grand Canyon is open year round.  The peak seasons for visitation are Spring, Summer and Fall.  Hikers will typically want to visit the canyon in the Spring and Fall when temperatures are cooler in the gorge.  However, rim top tours are conducted year round.  Summer months have the highest visitation, and temperatures stay comfortable on the rim at 7000 feet (2100m) in elevation.  Winter time is much less crowded, and visibility is best during the Winter months.  However, Winter visitors should be prepared for snow and ice.
